California Whale Watching Report

Trip Sightings Report:

California whales were spotted today and included Minke and Humpback whales. The crystal clear, blue water and warm, hazy sun made for spectacular whale watching.  There are bait balls all over the northeastern Channel.  The birds and mammals are feeding, and it is a great time for Southern California whale watching.  No less than five Minke whales were spotted, and one ran alongside the Condor Express whale watching boat and provided everyone a great look.  The Humpback whale called “Rope” and her pal were out there and again, and they came up and made a very close approach to the boat.  Dolphin pods were scattered about and the blue water made watching all the mammals gorgeous.  On the way home, a large ocean sunfish or “Mola Mola” was observed.

Here are the species we saw today:
2 Humpback whales
5 Minke whale
1500 Common Dolphins
1 Mola mola (ocean sunfish)
