Captain Tasha and her crew report seeing 7 fin whales, 2 blue whales and 2,000 long-beaked common dolphins today.  Conditions were ideal with bright, sunny skies and calm seas.  The Condor Express ran from Santa Barbara to the eastern end of beautiful Santa Cruz Island and back in their quest for wildlife.

Not far offshore, and a few minutes after departing Santa Barbara, a herd of 500 or so dolphins located the boat.  They rode our bow, side and stern wake as they typically do, and everyone on board enjoyed watching these highly animated cetaceans.  There were a few calved in the group, too.

The whale hot spot was alive and well in The Lanes adjacent to the eastern section of the Island. The first sighting of our closely watched 7 giant fin whales included a trio of whales, one of which was very friendly.  Next a pair of blue whales was located.  These beasts had 9 minute down times and long surface/breathing intervals for great sightings.

Tasha took the boat further east and found the rest of the fin whales.  On the way home a mega-pod of around 1,500 dolphins was observed.  The spread out across a very long line and were heading east.

You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
