2019 06-24 SB Channel
Captain Colton in the team found a bit of drizzle as they ran south from Santa Barbara towards the eastern end of Santa Cruz Island. Seas were calm. Total sightings for the trip included 11+ humpback whales, and a 2000 long-beaked common dolphins. We were not too far out of the harbor when the first grouping of dolphins and whales was located. There were five whales here including two very small juveniles. One of the adults and one of the juveniles took turns making friendly approaches and thrilling their fan club on the Condor Express. More whales were found here and there throughout the day and even on the way home. Dolphins were abundant everywhere we went, and during every whale sighting. It was an exciting day for cetaceans in the Channel.
