Gray whales and a lot of dolphins
Not far out of Santa Barbara Harbor the Condor Express played with a group of at least 1,500 common dolphins. As usual, these friendly cetaceans rode the bow, surfed the wake, and generally dazzled and delighted everyone on board. Next we ran across the to world famous Painted Cave on Santa Cruz Island, and put the nose in the hole for a great view. Rounding off the trip and providing the main attraction, 2 very cooperative gray whales were found up inside Santa Cruz Channel, and the whales had great surface intervals. They also approached the Condor Express on several occasions which made this sighting particularly special.
Our next scheduled trip is Wednesday. Hope to see you on board.
