6 blue whales and 400 long-beaked common dolphins were closely watched today. The weather and sea conditions made locating and watching whales a tiny bit more challenging than usual. Skies began with a light stratus cover, then, as the breeze picked up, it got clear and sunny. Captain Dave kept the Condor Express in the eastern channel for today’s explorations to avoid the surface chop the breeze was causing.
Near The Lanes a single, shy giant blue whale was located along with several hundred dolphins. The whale and the dolphins were heading west, into the on-coming breeze and seas. Dave continued his southeasterly course heading and soon located 5 additional giants. Great looks where had by all as our skilled crew moved the boat gently from whale to whale.
