It was overcast, but winds were very light and there was no swell. Conditions were good for finding and watching cetaceans. Sightings today included 1 Minke whale, 3 humpback whales and 500 long-beaked common dolphins.
Not far from the harbor a single Minke whale was located. The animal breached, then proceeded to run alongside the Condor Express and give great looks for ¾ hour. It was, for these waters, a marvelous Minke encounter.
Dolphins were scattered in small pods here and there throughout the region today. No mega-pods were seen, and the “endless” stream of these little cetaceans we have seen for the past days was not happening today.
Among the humpbacks we watched Scarlet and Snowflake and one other…a juvenile. The juvenile was lunge-feeding both on the surface and just below it. We watched her for about an hour.
