Captain Devin and the crew ran a 9a and a 12n trip today. There were clear blue skies, a moderate swell and no wind during both trips. Sightings included:6 gray whales, 2 Minke whales and 200 long-beaked common dolphins.
On the morning excursion we found a trio of whales about 3 miles off the coast. We got some really good looks and they were rolling around for a little bit. Along the way we found about 50 scattered dolphins here and there. The highlight of the morning trip was watching a Minke whale that breached about 8 times! Wow!
At noon we found 3 additional whales right outside the harbor and followed them as they slowly migrated along up the coast. About 150 additional dolphins were also watched, and they followed us back to the harbor. Near the harbor we saw another Minke on the surface and got some nice looks.
