2018 10-26 SB Channel
Dense fog was down to the deck in most of the Santa Barbara Channel, but Captain Dave and the crew of the Condor Express ran west until they broke free and had a wonderful day with the wildlife. Totals for the day included: a single humpback whale and 1500 long-beaked common dolphins.
The Condor Express was a long way from home and was near Platform Hondo, off the Gaviota coast, when skies cleared and a mega pod of dolphins located us. The dolphins stayed around the boat when the whale was located too. The lone adult whale started off a bit shy, but quickly warmed to the boat. It spent the better part of an hour swimming up one side and down the other. It crossed the bow and swam under the stern. It was a great encounter and sent chills up and down many spines.
