Abundant Gray Whale Mom’s and Calves plus Humpbacks and more

2015 05-09 SB Coast

Here are the facts and figures from Saturday from Captain Eric:

9 am 500 Long-beaked common dolphins alongside 2 Humpback whales (mother & calf) – calf breached at least 20x

12 noon 6 gray whales (3 mother-calf pairs)

3 pm 4 gray whales (2 cow-calf pairs; many more to the west of our position) 2 Humpback whales (same as 9am, but now feeding) 500 Long-beaked common dolphins

Sunday is our final coastal whale watching day of this gray whale season. Monday we cut over to our “Island Whale Watch” schedule with one excursion per day. We depart SEA Landing at 10am sharp, and return approximately 230 pm depending on sightings and sea conditions.
