A single noon trip found clear skies and very little wind. A small 2 – 3 ft swell was not a factor in our finding and watching whales. We closely watched a total of 5 northbound migrating Pacific gray whales.
Not far out of the harbor we ran northwest and a little bit offshore and found three northbound adult grays. They were very cooperative and were on the surface quite a bit. We saw a little bit of rolling around.
Captain Devin and the crew moved further west and found a hot spot with seabirds and sea lions off of UCSB. Great to see! On our way back to the harbor we found into another pair of northbound grays. They were fairly close to the boat and our sighting was short.
