Captain Danny and the crew reported periods of dense fog interspersed with areas with low stratus and 1 – 2 mile lateral visibility. Sea conditions were calm. Sightings included: 3000 common dolphins and 2 humpback whales.
Scattered small dolphin pods early soon gave way to larger megapods south of The Kelp Farm. Our first megapod of nearly 1000 individuals was full of mothers and calves…a nursery pod! Always brings joy to watch.
After passing through a thick fog area, Captain Danny and the crew moved east and, near Platform Habitat, found a pair of humpback whales. The whales mugged the Condor Express a few times. The also dove and had long down times during which they moved long distances in random directions. This sort of behavior keeps the crew on its toes.
On the way home, more dolphins.
You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
