Image: a breaching humpback whale

After a short southerly course in the bright sunlight, the fog closed in and made spotting spouts a challenge. Seas were calm with no much wind. Sightings for today despite the fog, reflect QUALITY over quantity: 1 humpback whale and 400 long-beaked common dolphins…all found in the fog zone.
On our way south to a location well east of The Buoy and north of The Lanes, we watched a couple hundred dolphins for a while. Then, not far away, a breaching whale was spotted in the distance and we changed course for its vicinity.
What unfolded next was 1 hour and 45 minutes of non-stop aerial action: over 70 full-body breaches, with interspersed tail-throws and pec-slaps. Passengers were treated to a heavy display of unbridled energy and first-hand looks. “Whalefies” were shared all around the Condor Express. After a nearly 2-hour session, the whale got lost in a thick fog bank.
On the way home we broke out of the fog in time to see another pod of 200 or so dolphins.
You never know what Mother Nature has in store,
Bob Perry Condor Express, and
Repeat performances for breaching are rare but always welcomed. This display sounds otherworldly! Humpbacks are padding their reputation as acrobatic whales!
We were there. AMAZING!!
