Hot Cetaceans
Captain Eric drove the Condor Express on a calm day with nice sunshine as we enter another heat wave in the Santa Barbara Channel. Of course, out on the Channel the weather was cool and we watched hot cetaceans. The first species of cetacean we checked off the list were long-beaked common dolphins in a pod of about 150. Again that Santa Barbara cobalt water made these animals spectacular to watch underwater. The second cetacean sighting was a nice humpback whale that actually swam under the boat and got a bit friendly…again that clear water did its magic. Our third and final cetacean was a small fin whale came on the scene and we had great looks. This trip also included a brief visit to Santa Cruz Island around the Fry’s Anchorage area.
