Extremely Friendly Humpback Whales today
Captain Dave was stuck. He had the worst and best situation simultaneously. He could not move the boat in any direction. But the reason was that the Condor Express was being “mugged” by humpback whales for over an hour. They popped up off the bow, then the port side, then the stern and so forth. They came right next to the boat and spouted several times. One CINC naturalist (V.O.) said she had to go home and take a shower because she, and the others on board, were covered by spout spray. “Kissed by the whale” as some call it.
All in all there were 6 humpback whales today, along with 2 Minke whales and about 700 or so common dolphins.
The Fall season has been one of the most productive we’ve seen in years. Hope to see you out there! Tell ’em Bob sent you.
