Conditions were ideal for closely watching 2 humpback whales and 75 long-beaked common dolphins today. The first sighting occurred when a small herd of dolphins located the Condor Express out near Platform Habitat. They were very boat-friendly and spent most of the time surfing our bow, side and stern waves. A bit further south we located the first of our two whales. It was a small whale that moved around the area with 7 minute down times, and was easy to watch. A short move to the north revealed the second whale, also a juvenile, but bigger than the first. We located this animal when it breached a few times in the distance. Both whales were cooperative and fun to watch on this single, 2½ hour coastal trip.
