Captain Eric ran into the Santa Barbara Channel and fought the moderate winds and swells to locate that “moveable feast” hot spot which we’ve been watching the past few days. Today the feast moved about 3 miles closer to Santa Barbara and north of the commercial shipping lanes. It was a day that started out rough but then calmed down in the afternoon.
Eric estimated at least 1,500 long-beaked common dolphins and 6 humpback whales were mixed in with all the feeding seabirds and California sea lions. When the Condor Express first arrived on the scene, one of the humpbacks was throwing its tail. The whales were very active and moving around the zone today. Everyone got great looks.
