It was still a bit blustery and white-cappy today, but a little better than yesterday. Skies had a high marine layer until halfway through the trip when the sun started to break through. Sightings for the day included: 3 humpback whales and 2500 long-beaked common dolphins.
Our first groups of dolphins found us 5 to 7 miles off of western Goleta/Elwood. They were around us most everywhere thereafter. Pushing offshore, we got into The Lanes west of the NOAA East Channel Buoy. We watched two big adult humpbacks and they spent a lot of time on the surface. They came over the boat twice to hang out with us. A third whale soon popped up in there with. Great looks were had of and by all.
