Captain Dave and the crew took the Condor Express to the west and then crossed the Channel. There was a light breeze all day, thus sunny blue skies. Sightings included 3000 long-beaked common dolphins, 2 humpback whales and 200 California sea lions.
There was a single, massive hotspot with loads of life feeding on anchovy schools in The Lanes off Carrington Point, Santa Rosa Island. Dolphin pods were everywhere and so were their compadres, the sea lions and sea birds. There was action all around the boat. Two single, large adult humpback whales were also in the mix and joined the feeding frenzy taking place below the surface. One of the adult whales rolled on its side and did a few pectoral fin slaps to get our attention focused.
