More humpbacks and blues

2016 06-11 SB Channel

Captain Eric took command of the Condor Express and produced another epic excursion in a long string of record-breaking whale watches so far in June.  First the totals: blue whales = 6 (we closely followed one); humpback whales = 12 (we closely followed 6); and, long-beaked common dolphins = 1,000.

Eric ran directly toward the Santa Cruz Channel but had to stop twice as he entered hot productive spots.  The first spot was about 8 miles out of Santa Barbara Harbor and included humpback whales and common dolphins.  The second spot was in the Lanes and consisted of one extremely friendly blue whale with more spouting in the near distance.
