Captain Danny and the crew found light winds, calm seas and a thin overcasts sky today in The Channel. The Condor Express ran west from the Kelp Farm, then turned south towards a hot spot on the northern edge of The Lanes. Sightings included: 500 common dolphins and 2 humpback whales.

The route we took today did not yield the same high population numbers of dolphins as we’ve been blessed with earlier this week. Out past the Kelp Farm, we watched and initial tight pod of 200 individuals, then found another, slightly larger pod near the whale hot spot.

Near The Lanes we spent quality time with a pair of humpbacks. During our visit the whales mugged the boat. (See today’s photo for an underwater example of mugging). The friendly pair then took to the air and breached for times and sent chills down the spines of their fans on the boat.

You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
