A glassy calm ocean surface with periods of sun interspersed with rain, especially heavy during the second half of today’s adventure. Captain Eric reports watching 1 huge blue whale and at least 1,500 long-beaked common dolphins.
South of The Lanes the first long line of dolphins encountered the Condor Express and hung around for a half-hour until a second large pod was spotted a bit to the east. Even further to the east, about 5 miles off Fry’s, a giant blue whale was located. It had short down times, came close to the boat and threw up its massive tail on the last dive.
A nice island tour was narrated by Captain Eric in a heavy downpour that followed the Condor home and brought heavy rain to Santa Barbara. Rainy days in the Santa Barbara Channel are exceptional. Pre-Halloween rain whale and dolphins; wow!
