Here are a few quick notes about a short Private charter whale watch that was run earlier today. Captain Dave and the crew found sunny, blue skies. The ocean had a slight wind bump on it. Sightings included 2 humpback whales and 150 California sea lions.

We left The Harbor and headed west until we were a few miles off the Goleta Pier. At that point we moved south for a few miles, then turned back to the west where we ended up 5 miles off Santa Barbara Point, and just south of the Kelp Farm.

There were lots of small birdnados, each had a small mob of sea lions...totaling at least 150 by the end of the trip. When we were positioned south of The Farm, we encountered 2 adult humpback whales. Although mostly in slow travel mode, the whales did stop for some lunge-feeding on one of the birdnados

You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
