A morning marine layer soon gave way to a sunny day with calm seas in the Santa Barbara Channel. Sightings for today included 2500 long-beaked common dolphins and 2 humpback whales.
Captain Dave and his crew report the presence of dolphins “everywhere” in the Channel, from the mid-Channel buoy onward. On the hot spot, the dolphins were mixed in around the whales. The action today took place about 6 miles north of Fraser Point, Santa Cruz Island and a bit to the west at times.
The two whales provided great looks and the sunny skies with calm seas really punctuated the experience
