It was a very enjoyable excursion today as Captain Dave and his crew located and watched a total of 5 humpback whales, 1 Minke whale, at least 2,000 long-beaked common dolphins and a small hammerhead shark. All this happened on a very calm Santa Barbara Channel with cobalt blue clear water. Skies were overcast and there was virga everywhere…it was cooler, but the humidity persisted.
The trip highlight occurred when two humpback whales breached next to the boat. The aerial acrobatics were a few minutes apart and happened while the Condor Express remained stationary. The whale and dolphin fans were ecstatic.
