Two pairs of gray whales.

2017 04-20 SB Coast

It was a bit windy along the coast and Captain Dave ran a single trip at noon.  The crew of the Condor Express saw a total of two pairs of gray whales.  The first pair was a mother gray whale and her calf which was discovered close to the entrance of Santa Barbara harbor.  This pair was followed carefully up to the west as far as Hendry’s Beach.  The sea surface was getting a bit bumpier at that point so Dave turned the ship around and surfed the swells heading towards the harbor.  Near the harbor, another pair was spotted.  This time is was an adult and a yearling gray whale and good looks were had by all.
