Two gray whales, 1 humpback whale and 500 long-beaked common dolphins were seen during a single excursion. Captain Dave and his crew ran under a thin, warm stratus layer with calm seas.
12 noon The first leg of our trip took us to the southeast and a large group of dolphins feeding. This soon led to a single humpback whale joining the feeding action. This may be the same small humpback with white pectorals that we’ve seen the past few days in our area. Later, the next leg was along the shoreline from Hendry’s to the harbor. This is where a mother gray whale and her calf were encountered and everyone got great looks. What a great trip it was!
